The Law of Attraction (LOA) and I have known each other for a while. We go way back. Yet there is a difference between knowing something and doing something. There is a difference between knowing the path and actually walking the path. You see, I grew up in a household where discussions about Law of Attraction, energy, the power of the subconscious mind and the like were regular occurrence. As much as were discussions about homework, sports and what I wanted to be when I grew up. It’s just kind of always been there, like white noise, in the background. But, I didn’t start really paying attention and consciously realising that it was a way until I was about 15 when my interest was sparked. But then, well, being a teenager took over and I didn’t really re-visit it seriously again (despite conversations happening most nights at the dinner table) until I was in university around the age of 19 or 20.
It was at that time that I started going to seminars on personal development and watching movies like ‘The Secret’. And you could say I dabbled. At first, I wanted to believe, but was skeptical. And when money didn’t appear out of thin air I may have thought to myself “This manifesting stuff doesn’t work.” Ha!
Nowadays, after refining my manifesting muscle, the Law of Attraction has been and continues to be a game changer for me. I’ve manifested many different opportunities. Using the LOA I’ve gone from stuck university graduate to landing a coveted job in corporate for a Fortune 500 Company straight out of university. I’ve created my ideal relationship with the partner of my dreams. I’ve used the LOA to steer my life on an entirely new path. I’ve created my dream business where I can work from anywhere as long as I have my laptop. I’ve attracted high paying clients, travelled the world and make a living doing what I love.
Through studying the psychology of success, the Law of Attraction and working as a mindset coach with people all over the world to help them live life on their terms I have learned a few things in regards to ensuring the Law of Attraction works for you, so you can truly live life on your terms.
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want.
Have you ever been around those people who, when you ask them: “What do you want?” they say “I don’t know” or they aren’t too sure? It’s a bit hard to know what to do around those people sometimes, and it can seem a bit hard or tricky to please them, because they aren’t sharing what they want to do. It can get somewhat frustrating. My fiancé might say I’m like this when it comes to food and being asked what I want for dinner as more often than not I tend to say I’m not sure or whatever is easy. But, when it comes to manifesting and Law of Attraction don’t be that person. Don’t be the person who doesn’t really know what they want. Why? Because it just makes it all the more tricky and difficult for the Universe to deliver what you seek and serve it up for you if you aren’t sure what you want.
My number one tip, when using the Law of Attraction, is to be specific when manifesting. Often times the more specific the better. That way you will know when your order is up. There is a significant difference between “I want to manifest more money” and “I want to manifest $5000 dollars in additional income by X date.” If I gave you a dollar after you had declared the first statement, you would quite literally have ‘more money’, but was that really what you were thinking when you said more money? Probably not. So, be specific, ask very specifically for what you want.
For me, the most amazing thing in my life that I have manifested using the Law of Attraction is my boyfriend, now fiancé. I can remember sitting by the pool in sunny Queensland one afternoon getting really specific and writing out the qualities this man would possess. It was at that point I had a little conversation with the Universe. I was really specific, I wrote down the qualities this person was to possess, their personality traits, how they made me feel and how I made them feel. Make no mistake I wrote out as much as I could – as much vivid detail about what this person would be like. Then, I did something that most people when they practice LOA forget to do. I released any and all attachment to the outcome. I put it out to the universe and I let it be.
Which leads me to a super important step in manifesting…
Release and trust
When manifesting to create the life of your dreams and live life on your terms we sometimes ask the Universe and then we worry when it hasn’t shown up. We ask and then wonder why life, the Universe, the big U or the powers that be have not provided for us. We want it so bad. We need it so bad. We start to worry and maybe fret. We become attached to the outcome. We love the idea of this manifested reality so much so that we kill the vibe.
Sometimes when we have a goal that we want to manifest, we can want it so bad that we can actually suffocate it. Our attachment to the outcome and the result stifles anything happening. It’s like the character Lennie in ‘Of Mice and Men’ who loves his puppy so much that he actually ends up smothering and accidentally killing the poor little thing because he loved it so much and didn’t give it space, time and let it go.
If we let what we want to manifest, it will just be. If we let go and trust, then wonderful things will happen. There is a massive difference in the energy of ‘needing’ to make something happen, compared to ‘knowing’ and ‘trusting’ that something will happen. That sense of knowing comes with releasing any and all attachment to your outcome.
For me in the example of manifesting my ideal partner, I wrote the list, I trusted that I would manifest this or something better in my ideal partnership, and then I somewhat forgot about it. I got on with living my life and doing my thing.
Within a week I reconnected with a great guy I already knew and there was an undeniable connection there. My fiancé likes to think he picked me up with a magic trick but we got along so well that I would have gone out with him anyway. We dated long distance, sharing dates in Fiji, London, Amsterdam and Sydney. He eventually moved across the country so we could be together. Now after nearly 7 years we are engaged. I’m incredibly grateful that our paths crossed and we get to share our lives together. But it wasn’t until I came across a notebook when we were moving house that I found the list that I wrote. As I read through it and I was blown away as he possesses every quality I had listed out. Down to very specific details.
We must learn to release our attachment to the outcome if we want to see it manifest into reality. It is almost to the point where you let it go and don’t really think about it. You trust whole heartedly that it’s out there, that the Universe is manifesting this for you and it will happen.
